Hello,

I am a staff writer for DZone.com and I recently saw some articles on our site getting a lot of positive feed back just for listing around 10 tips or common problems when using a certain programming language.  I know we have a great Scala-using community on our website and I was interested in asking an experienced Scala developer to share some 'Common Scala Programming Mistakes'  or 'Scala Hot tips'.  Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:
http://www.devtheweb.net/blog/2009/09/30/common-php-programming-mistakes/
http://ruby.dzone.com/articles/10-hot-tips-jruby

Thanks for your help!  You'll of course be credited with authoring the tips.

Mitch, feel free to use any of my comments on a question to the same topic on Stack Overflow.

Other's answers are pretty good tips too, of course. One of them is by Christopher, also on this list, but I don't know the other two.
