2.8.1-RC1 artifact missing?

sbt-scala distribution quick question:

i modified my sbt build.properties, from 2.8.1-SNAPSHOT, to point to the
2.8.1-RC1 but it fails to find it...should I stick with the -SNAPSHOT or are
these RCs deployed on one of the maven repositories?

build.scala.versions=2.8.1-RC1
