Scala 2.9.1 RC1 is indeed faster than Scala 2.8.2 on computations

as Ismael Juma pointed out, Scala 2.9.1 RC1 is improved a lot on speed,
relatively to Scala 2.9.0.1,
and now ScalaLab291 is faster than ScalaLab282 on some tests I
performed! (sometimes significant difference)
